Although I prefer to work from life, I realize that not everyone can be available for life sessions all the time. When I do work from photographs, I need as many as possible, for it allows me to see the various moods of the subject, and it helps me get things done on the painting between sittings.

Start of a commission: roughing in
Once the preliminary sketch is approved by the client, I start working on the finished piece. I usually provide photos by email of how the work is progressing. I feel it is important to involve the client in the process so that there are no surprises.
I do guarantee my work. I want my clients to look at the work with pleasure and be satisfied that the subject has been captured as they are in life. In the case of live sittings, there are two hour sittings for as many as it takes.
I work in both pencil, which is done on 100% rag, acid-free bristol board, or oil, done on linen canvas.
The payment schedule is one third down at the time of commissioning, one third at the time of approval of the preliminary sketch or the first phase of the painting, and one third upon completion and delivery of the painting.
